What IMB offers in each category, with the features, eligibility and trade-offs we note. Where we captured a current rate from IMB’s own page in the last 60 days, it is shown with its comparison rate and a link to the source; for the other products, follow the link to IMB’s rate card.
*Comparison rates are calculated on the lender's own example: for home loans usually $150,000 over 25 years, for car and personal loans usually $30,000 over five years. WARNING: This comparison rate is true only for the example given and may not include all fees and charges. Different terms, fees or other loan amounts might result in a different comparison rate.
IMB Bank's home loan range covers a fixed rate, a basic variable rate and a variable rate with an offset account. The Budget Home Loan is the basic variable option with no monthly fees, the Essentials Home Loan can be linked to a 100% offset account for a $10 monthly fee, and the Fixed Rate Home Loan lets you pay up to 12 months of repayments in advance without penalty.
These home loans have a $10,000 minimum loan amount, terms of up to 30 years and lending up to 95% of the property value, with principal and interest or interest only repayments. IMB also offers bridging finance of $20,000 to $2,500,000 with up to 6 months to sell the existing property, and a Family Guarantee under which immediate family members such as parents can provide a guarantee.
For cars, the New Car Loan finances new or used cars up to 4 years old, including electric and hybrid vehicles, for $2,000 to $125,000. The Secured Personal Loan can be secured by a car, motorcycle or caravan up to 6 years old for up to $75,000, and the Unsecured Personal Loan offers up to $50,000. All three are fixed rate loans with terms of 1 to 7 years and no monthly account fees.
IMB business loans range from $100,000 to $10,000,000 with terms of up to 25 years, secured by residential or commercial property, and borrowers are supported by an IMB Business Banking Manager. Two months of interest on the original loan amount is payable if the loan is fully repaid within the first 3 years. IMB also offers business overdrafts of up to $20,000 unsecured or $500,000 secured.
Business equipment finance is offered through a partnership with Angle Finance, an Australian-based non-bank lender, and the asset finance is provided by Angle Finance. IMB says it is not a Credit Representative for Angle Finance and receives a commission when an IMB customer takes out an Angle Finance product. Applicants need an ABN and at least 2 years in business.
You can start an IMB home loan through its digital home loan journey or with help from a home loan specialist, who will typically call you back within 30 minutes on weekdays between 8am and 8pm. Eligibility criteria must be met to apply online, and split loans are not available in online applications. IMB's mobile lenders can also come to you, with mobile lenders listed for NSW, Queensland, Victoria and the ACT.
Personal and car loan applications can be completed online in under 10 minutes, and you can apply online for conditional approval. To be eligible for an IMB home loan or personal loan, you must be over 18, have a good credit history and have a monthly income.
IMB Bank is the trading name of IMB Ltd. In June 2015 IMB announced that APRA had consented to it using the restricted term "bank", converting it from a mutual building society to a mutual bank, and it began trading as IMB Bank from 1 August 2015. IMB said its ownership model did not change as a result.
IMB describes itself as a member-owned bank and says it has been supporting people and communities since 1880. It also operates the IMB Share Market, a market for trading and transferring IMB shares under an Australian Market Licence.
