How quoting works

Four steps. About a week, end to end.

01

You answer 3 questions

What you need (buy, refinance, invest), where you are, and how soon you want to act.

02

We pick the best-fit broker

From a vetted panel whose entire practice is built on situations like yours.

03

They quote you

Real numbers from real lenders for your scenario, not a generic rate table.

04

You decide

Engage them, ask follow-ups, or walk away. Zero pressure.

What to have ready

A faster quote starts with a few documents.

You don't need any of these to request a quote. But the broker will ask for them once you decide to proceed. Having them ready can shave days off the timeline.

Common questions

Everything you might be wondering before you ask.

Is the home loan quote really free?+
Yes, free for you, always. The broker who quotes you is paid by the lender via commission only on settled loans. Your Finance Guide may receive a referral fee from the broker partner on settled work, but you never pay us directly. Full payment flows are documented in our Credit Guide.
Will requesting a quote affect my credit score?+
No. Requesting a quote is a soft enquiry between you and the broker. A formal credit check only happens if you choose to apply for a specific lender, and only after the broker has explained that step.
How fast will I get the quote?+
Your matched broker contacts you within one business day with a calendar link. Most simple quotes are issued in 1 to 3 days once they have your supporting documents.
What documents will I need?+
For a standard owner-occupier quote, expect to provide: photo ID, two recent payslips, three months of bank statements, current loan or credit card statements, a council rates notice (if refinancing) or contract of sale (if buying). Self-employed applicants need two years of tax returns and notices of assessment.
Why one broker, not many quotes?+
Multiple brokers all pulling credit checks and chasing the same lenders is a recipe for headaches. Our job is to know our network well enough that one introduction is the right one. If they get it wrong, we re-match with no charge and no awkwardness.
Can I get a quote without sharing personal information?+
You can run our Borrowing Power Calculator and Home Loan Repayment Calculator without sharing any contact details. A quote, by definition, is personalised, so the broker needs to know your income, expenses, and the property you have in mind to give you accurate numbers.
Do you offer quotes for investment loans, refinances, and self-employed?+
Yes, all three. Different specialists in our network focus on different scenarios (first home buyer, refinancer, investor, self-employed, complex income), so the broker we connect you with will be the one whose practice fits your situation.
What if I get a quote and decide not to proceed?+
Walk away, no charge, no follow-up. If you tell us why, we use it to improve future matches.
Information only, not a credit offer. Your Finance Guide is a finance education publisher. We are not a credit provider, broker, or lender, and we do not provide credit assistance. When you request a quote, your enquiry is referred to a licensed credit assistance partner who compares rates from a panel of Australian lenders. Full details of our partner and their licensing are available in our Credit Guide. Credit assistance is provided by The Mortgage Group Pty Ltd trading as ALG Australian Lending Group (Australian Credit Licence 505575). Read our Credit Guide.
