What RedZed lends

RedZed offers home loans, commercial property loans and SMSF loans, and all of its loans have variable interest rates. Every RedZed loan must be secured by real estate. Its home loans go up to $5 million and can be used for purchases, refinances, debt consolidation or to access equity for personal or business use, including clearing a tax debt.

RedZed's commercial property loans lend up to 75% of a property's value, with loan terms of up to 30 years and no annual reviews, and it also offers short-term commercial loans for urgent needs. Its SMSF loans can be used to buy the commercial premises your business operates from, buy eligible commercial investment property, or refinance an existing SMSF loan.

RedZed does not offer personal loans, construction loans, or loans secured by assets such as a car, truck, caravan or boat.

Who RedZed lends to

RedZed lends only to the self-employed, including sole traders and small business owners, and says this includes borrowers without perfect credit histories. It will consider defaults and judgments, and says it has solutions for people with past bankruptcies. RedZed says its loan applications are assessed by people rather than automated credit scoring programs.

Borrowers can verify income with their latest individual and company tax returns and ATO Notice of Assessment, or with a self-certified income declaration. That declaration must be supported by an accountant's declaration, the two most recent BAS statements, or at least six months of business bank statements, with ATO portal information needed for the BAS and bank statement options. Most RedZed loans require at least 12 months in business, although RedZed says it has some options for businesses operating for a shorter time.

How to apply with RedZed

RedZed has no branches and works only through its head office lending managers and accredited broker partners. Borrowers can contact RedZed directly on 1300 722 462, through its enquiry form or with its Direct Lending team, or speak with a RedZed accredited broker. RedZed says more than 5,000 mortgage brokers are accredited to offer its loans.

RedZed aims to give conditional approval within 48 hours of an application and formal approval within 14 days, subject to valuation and any outstanding requirements. It says the process generally takes 3 to 4 weeks, and that delays can occur because valuers, accountants, conveyancers and others are involved.

RedZed ownership and history

RedZed was founded in 2006 and describes itself as a privately owned Australian company that is not owned by any banks or overseas entities. It says all of its more than 130 employees are based in Australia.

The redzed.com footer names RedZed Lending Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 31 123 588 527), which holds Australian Credit Licence 311128. RedZed's credit guide says RedZed Lending Solutions is the founder and program manager of the RedZed Lending Solutions Program, and that loans made under the program are effected in the name of Perpetual Trustee Company Limited as credit provider.

RedZed: frequently asked questions

Does RedZed lend to self-employed borrowers?

Yes. RedZed lends only to the self-employed, including sole traders and small business owners, through home loans, commercial property loans and SMSF loans. Most of its loans require at least 12 months in business, although it says it has some options for businesses operating for a shorter time.

What income documents does RedZed accept?

RedZed accepts traditional income evidence, meaning your latest individual and company tax returns and ATO Notice of Assessment. It also accepts a self-certified income declaration supported by an accountant's declaration, the two most recent BAS statements, or at least six months of business bank statements. The BAS and bank statement options also need a copy of your individual and business ATO portal information.

Can I apply for a RedZed loan directly?

Yes. RedZed says you can contact its team directly on 1300 722 462 or through its enquiry form, and its Direct Lending team offers consultations. You can also speak with a RedZed accredited broker, as RedZed works only through its head office lending managers and accredited broker partners.

Does RedZed offer personal loans or equipment finance?

No. RedZed does not offer unsecured loans such as personal loans, or loans secured by assets such as a car, truck, caravan or boat, which it says are often called asset finance or equipment finance. It says borrowers can instead use the equity in a home or commercial property to fund these purchases through a RedZed residential or commercial loan.

Can I get a RedZed loan with bad credit?

RedZed says it will consider defaults and judgments, and takes time to understand the reasons behind them rather than automatically rejecting credit-impaired borrowers. It assesses your current ability to repay the loan, and says it has solutions for people with past bankruptcies.

Is RedZed a bank?

No. RedZed is a non-bank lender: it is not on APRA’s register of authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs), the list of banks, building societies and credit unions licensed under the Banking Act 1959.
