Why you can trust this site

Most finance sites are sales funnels with guides bolted on. Your Finance Guide is the opposite: the guides are the product. Here is the evidence behind that claim, the credentials of the people writing it, and the limits of what we can tell you.

The editorial team

Every guide is written, reviewed, and signed off by a named editor with relevant credentials. Bylines link to a public profile listing their background and the qualifications they bring to the topic.

Independence and funding

Reading the site is free. There is no email gate, no paywall, no upsell sequence. The site is funded by an optional referral relationship with one credit assistance partner: The Mortgage Group Pty Ltd trading as ALG Australian Lending Group (Australian Credit Licence 505575).

Your Finance Guide and the partner are part of the same group of companies. We disclose this related-party relationship in our Credit Guide, in the footer of every page, and in our advertiser disclosure. We do not earn commissions from individual lenders. We do not run sponsored content inside editorial. We do not rank lenders by referral fee.

That arrangement is the strongest commercial pull on the site. It is the reason this page exists. A reader is entitled to weigh that conflict, decide what it is worth, and act accordingly.

Sources we cite

Every regulatory claim, threshold, or rate calculation cites the primary source. Australian financial-services rules trace back to:

  • ASIC. Responsible lending obligations, comparison-rate disclosure, external dispute resolution.
  • APRA. Prudential standards (APS 220, APG 223), serviceability buffers, capital adequacy.
  • ATO. Tax treatment of novated leases (TR 95/25), instant asset write-off thresholds, FBT rules including the EV exemption.
  • State revenue offices. Stamp duty rates, first home buyer schemes, concessions.
  • RBA. Cash rate, monetary policy decisions, statement of monetary policy.
  • AFCA. Dispute resolution data, determinations, systemic-issue reports.

We do not cite other comparison sites as authority. Where a third-party comparison or ranking is referenced, it is the underlying primary source we link to, not the secondary aggregator.

Mistakes we have made

We keep a public correction record on every page where a substantive error landed. Trivial typo fixes are made silently. A "substantive" correction is one that changes a recommendation, a worked example, or a number a reader might act on.

At the time of this page's last review, the substantive correction record is short. As the site grows and the cadence of news writing accelerates, we expect more corrections, not fewer. We will list them, dated, on the affected pages and on a consolidated editorial policy log.

If you spot a factual error, email info@australianlendinggroup.com.au with the URL and a brief note. We aim to acknowledge the same business day.
